Solitude by BuuckPhotography Solitude by BuuckPhotography
Grasping for the heavens with branches like twisted fingers, this tree searches for an escape from the solitude.

One can see this tree was a sentinel for many years.   Just by observing its twisted trunk. we can see it has withstood the strong winds of many storms,    Now however, it is a relic from the past.  One can only imagine how much punishment the elements put upon it, before it finally surrendered.  Do I detect snow on the ground in the foreground?   :icontreeplz:

I wonder how long it lasted.  There are many of these trees in that park, and they sure look like a tough bunch (have to deal with snow, harsh wind, and a rocky/nutrient poor ground).

That is indeed snow in the foreground!  Hope you enjoyed this photo :D

Sharing it in color would not have properly conveyed the effect that I felt in person.  Glad you like the black and white :)

Yes I love the dramatic effect changes of black & white vs color and vs a properly used sepia also.

One of those photographs where greyscale really improves the atmosphere I think. :)
The environment, as well as the composition and field of depth definitely add to the feeling of solitude in this one.

Very well done!

Thank you for the feedback :)  It's great to hear that you feel the same way.  I felt that the colors would just be a distraction and that the abolition of color created a greater sense of silence.
