Enchanting Limbo - Peter Iredale Shipwreck by BuuckPhotography Enchanting Limbo - Peter Iredale Shipwreck by BuuckPhotography
Neither floating nor sinking... stuck in limbo; a testament of nature's fury.

On October 25, 1906, the Peter Iredale ran ashore on route to Portland, OR. Fortunately there were no casualties. Later, the ship was sold and dismantled for scrap. Only it's steel skeleton remains, trapped in a sandy grave in the Lewis and Clark National Historic Park. It is one of the most accessible shipwrecks in the "Graveyard of the Pacific."

It had taken 7hrs of driving to get there, and when I arrived the sun had just slipped behind the fog. So I grabbed my tripod and sprinted down the beach. One of the best 20 minutes of my life xD

I've visited the Oregon coast several times, but I've never visited this wreck. I've always wanted to though.

Beautiful and amazing shot! I love the colours and the refection of the sunset in the water around the silhouette of the wreck. Freaking epic~!

This really is a spectacular wreck.  Even up close there is so much to explore in the details, though I haven't been to many wrecks to compare it to.

Indeed.  Though that deadly aspect can make it a bit exciting.  At least I think so... though I don't want to be caught in to scary a situation :)

Oh yeah, people were doing that when I was there too.  My main grievance was that I wanted them out of my pictures xD

Also, did they not cut their feet on the metal?
