Driving Twin Peaks by BuuckPhotography Driving Twin Peaks by BuuckPhotography
It wasn't easy... 3hrs of patience and shivering in the cold. But it happened (two cars passed by) and I pressed the shutter button. So worth it!

This is up on Twin Peaks in San Francisco, CA. I used a long exposure to capture the light trails created by the moving cars.

It is beautiful and there is so much to do :D  I'd have to say that Chinatown and the Golden Gate bridge have always been my favorite.  Plus the Bay Bridge is becoming an attraction with the new East span being the longest self-anchoring suspension (SAS) bridge in the world: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_…  and the West span light show thebaylights.org/

Though unless you make a lot of money, it's better to just visit the city.  People can rent a studio (where your living room is your bedroom) for $1,000/month or spend $1,000,000 on a 1,500 sq ft house.  So expensive!  xD

Haha. Well, there are some views of the SF skyline and piers from the East Bay where I want to take shots that show the city itself (rather than the entire bay). Regardless, the view is fantastic :D

Photography is a lot like that sometimes.. just sitting there, sometimes in the cold, waiting and being patient for the right time.

This is pretty awesome! It feels like there aren't many colours there.. hence why there are few trails, but it's great you captured it regardless. I feel that you could have moved the camera lower, perhaps.. but other than that, it's really not too bad.

It's quite an interesting perspective.. the point of view and all that. Awesome lighting and colours. :)

So true! And even though it should be boring, it is really quite exciting :D

Maybe I can go back and have some friends drive up and down. That will give me more light trails xD. Sadly I couldn't go any lower... would've been in the road (dangerous and too low to capture the city background). It's not perfect, but I'm quite happy with it :)

Thanks for taking a look. I'm glad you like it!

Gorgeous scenery! I find the transition from tail light to headlight to be fascinating...but why does the headlight in front only start half way in? He forget to turn his headights on? :P

The view of the city is simply spectacular too. It kind of seems like tiny-town because you're so far away the buildings look short!

I'm glad to hear you like it :D The taillight to headlight transition was a pleasant surprise! Also how the light almost disappears in the turn (when the car is sideways to my view).

As for the headlight half way in, it's because I hadn't started the long exposure until the car was halfway up the hill. The cars were passing each other (right side of photo) when I started the photo. The one on the right continued downhill while the one on the left finished the journey uphill (I had not captured it driving from further down the hill). I hope this long-winded explanation makes sense :)

Haha yeah, almost as if the city were some sort of kid playset xD

Ahh yep! My photographernese isn't too rusty yet so I understood you. I didn't even think about how the light disappeared as the car turned; it's amazing how much of a story lights can tell!

Cool. Glad to hear it :)

It is amazing how you can capture more than just a single moment (seconds, minutes, even an hour) with a camera. I really want to explore that aspect of photography!
